Oronero è una installazione realizzata in un vigneto sul vulcano Etna durante la residenza e mostra Etna Reverie, curata da Daniele Perra.
L’artista ha scelto uno spazio vicino a un piccolo uliveto. L’artista ha collocato dei pali di castagno, che servono per coltivare la vigna, e li ha rivestiti con coperte isotermiche.
Le coperte sono le medesime utilizzate per coprire gli immigrati provenienti dal mare sulle coste siciliane. La protezione civile copre questi uomini con delle coperte. Nelle coltivazioni spesso si utilizzano carte plastificate o oggetti riflettenti per spaventare gli uccelli. Questo ha fatto scaturire la necessità dell’artista di costruire un’armata di spaventapasseri, come giovani guerrieri. L’uomo nero spaventa. L’uomo nero è però una ricchezza. Non dimentichiamo che uno degli affari più redditizi della malavita oggi è proprio l’immigrazione.

Oronero is an installation made for a residency program, on a vineyard on Etna Volcano. The name of the exhibitions is Etna Reverie, curated by Daniele Perra.
The artist has chosen a space close to a small olive grove. She placed the chestnut poles, serving to cultivate the vineyard, and covered with emergency blankets.
The blankets are the same used to cover the immigrants coming from north africa on the Sicilian coast. The civil protection covers these people with golden blankets. Farmers often, use plastic cards or shining objects to scare the birds. This is why the artist build this army of scarecrows as young warriors. The black man frightens us. The black man is, however, a wealth. Do not forget that one of the most lucrative crime business today is immigration.
