L’incendio in cui morirono 146 camiciaie in una fabbrica a New York nel 1911 non segna solo l’inizio del movimento femminista ma rappresenta anche il tema di questo lavoro.

Su invito della XV Biennale Donna a Ferrara, in cui il tema è la violenza, Loredana Longo è l'unico artista italiano in mostra. L'impatto del lavoro è potente e toccante, sia dal punto di vista estetico sia per il rigore della sua concezione e per la sua realizzazione. Inoltre, evoca il tema attuale delle morti sul lavoro. Un’opera che ricorda come la questione della sicurezza sul lavoro oltre ad essere una forma di violenza è anche un delicato aspetto sociale di cui l'artista è ben consapevole.

The fire that killed 146 shirt makers in a New York factory in 1911 doesn’t only mark the beginning of the feminist movement, but it also represents the theme of this installation.

Upon invite to the XV Biennale Woman in Ferrara, in which the theme was violence, Loredana Longo is the only Italian artist in the exhibit. The impact of this work is powerful and touching, from an esthetic point of view and for the rigor of its conception and realization. Furthermore, it evokes the current theme of fatalities in the workplace. The work recalls how the issue of safety on the workplace is not only a form of violence, but it’s also a delicate social aspect of which the artist is well aware.
